In general, these programs are good introductions to reading for young children, especially for those not always interested in sitting down to hear a book read in a parent's lap. Although they will not teach your child to read, they do provide additional exposure to reading, reading comprehension, and vocabulary.

101 Dalmations Animated StoryBook, [ages 3-7] If your child liked the classic story, and enjoys click-and-explore programs, 101 Dalmations is a safe bet.

Green Eggs and Ham, [ages 3-7] Using simple words, rhymes and repetition, and captivating illustrations, pre- and early readers become"page-turning machines" in the words of one of our parent reviewers.

Hercules Animated StoryBook, [ages 3-9] A bit difficult to follow if you haven't seen the movie - entertaining for kids who have.

Hunchback of Notre Dame Animated StoryBook, [ages 3-9] This software version of the classic avoids dwelling on the dark side of the evilcharacters, and instead focuses on the goodness in the hearts of the story's heroes.

Stellaluna, [ages 3-7] The enchanting tale of a baby fruit bat, lost by her mother following an attack by an owl, raised by a family of birds.
