Riverdeep Unveils New Edmark® House Series Learning Solution

Upgraded content and management tools
help early learners and students with special needs
bridge gap between concept and understanding to improve learning

,b>SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Oct. 19, 2005 Designed with extensive input from special needs and early learning specialists and students, Riverdeep’s new Edmark® House Series has been updated to include more engaging content and expanded reporting and management tools to provide a complete supplemental learning solution for all early learners.

Riverdeep officially unveils its new Edmark House Series today and will display its entire line of special needs products, including Destination Reading® and Destination Math®, at the 23rd Annual Closing the Gap Conference in Minneapolis, Minn., October 20-22, 2005.

The Edmark House Series was created to inspire young minds to discover the fundamentals of learning by using theme-based activities, engaging characters and positive, gentle feedback. The enhanced solution provides 30 percent more activities and expands accessibility options for students with learning or developmental challenges. It also includes new real-time reporting and learning management tools to monitor student progress and target each student’s individual learning needs.

"Edmark has a great reputation and I’ve seen a lot of success with all of the House Series programs," said Keith Wynne, Teacher, PS 58, The Carroll School, Brooklyn, NY. "I can use the program with students in the independent station to target specific skills on the computer, while I work with other students one-on-one. Using the House Series is almost like adding another teacher to the classroom."

The House Series also offers an improved user interface, print controls and screen scaling for easier viewing. Students with unique learning needs benefit from features that include built-in universal access and pacing options, the ability to select and assign access by student and closed-captioning of all audio and controls.

Another advantage is that teachers can utilize just one system to manage student users across all of the House Series programs. Additionally, theme-based software and print activities that support cross-curricular instruction will be fully integrated with the Destination Math and Destination Reading courseware via Riverdeep’s Learning Management System.

"At Riverdeep, we recognize the impact that successful instructional design, coupled with engaging characters and activities, can have, especially on early learners," said Gail Elizabeth Pierson, chief education officer, Riverdeep. "We are pleased to announce the new Edmark House Series solution, as it remains one of the most cherished early learning solutions by teachers and students everywhere."
